An investigation for a fugitive leads a city cop to a small remote border town in the Northern Cape, South Africa wedged between Namibia and Botswana called Mier. Joined by a palaeontologist, a former game reserve owner, a CCU detective and local trackers they track his whereabouts to an illegal drilling facility out in the middle of the Kalahari desert patrolled by private military contractors. Sarah quickly realises her party members have ulterior motives when they start disappearing one after the other. Her fate hangs in the balance when she has to survive in the desert with the fugitive while hiking back to Mier.
